Conversations With Death

According to the wisdom of Buddha, we can actually use our lives to prepare for death. Equally important, the contemplation of death can bring us more fully into our life. Yet all too often we only reflect on death shortly before its arrival. Perhaps that is a bit too late.

For most people the thought of death evokes sadness, anger, and anxiety about pain, dependency and isolation. Despite daily proof of human mortality, and a hunger to understand it, talking about death is still taboo in our society. As a result too many face their final days in fear and distress.

During this day we will turn toward the experience many of us would rather avoid. We will enter into a caring conversation together exploring questions such as:

  • Why do we find it so hard to talk about death?
  • What is my actual relationship with death and how is it shaping my life?
  • What matters most in dying?
  • Does an intimacy with death lead to a more loving and compassionate life?
  • How can we restore death to an honored and sacred place in our lives?

Our hope is to breathe life into death through honest conversation, meditation and experiential exercises. Come join us. Let's see what we can discover.
