DEEPENING RELATIONSHIP: LOVE, JOY AND COMPASSION AT THE END OF LIFE

Dying is much more than a medical event. It's primarily about relationships. And, these relationships are characterized more by Mystery than Mastery.

The intent of this unique program is to develop self-awareness among participants, building our capacity and skills in deepening relationships with those we serve and with the Mystery of death. Specifically we will explore how the three innate qualities of Love. Joy and Compassion arise as an appropriate and supportive response to conditions surrounding the end of life.

Love is the foundation of true service and non-judgmental attention. Love embraces whatever it comes in contact with even if that object does not at first glance seem loveable. Joy, most easily experienced as curiosity activates our openness with a vibrant and spontaneous creativity; expanding the spectrum of possible responses. Compassion knows through sensitivity and serves as a companion to suffering. It expresses the gentleness, the kindness necessary for our soul to relax, to trust, to open.

Using experiential exercises and discussion we will explore ways to skillfully access and utilize these invaluable assets in our caregiving. As we gradually remove the obscurations, the perceptions that block our capacity to recognize the truth, dying becomes a time of growth and transformation rather than being seen only as making the best of a bad situation.

Come discover with us.
