THE SPIRIT OF SERVICE
A Workshop/Reteat with Frank Ostaseski

At some juncture most of us are called to service, whether it be to care for a dying parent, to volunteer in our community or to support a social justice or political movement. Practiced with awareness, service can be seen as a spiritual path. In this light true service is understood as mutually beneficial and a natural expression of our interdependence.

Obstacles on this path include self consciousness, attachment to roles, notions of obligation, the need to be somebody, the fear of suffering, and doubts about what really helps. Habitual ways of thinking and behaving that foster separateness and hinder our capacity to serve.

This workshop/retreat will blend informative sessions on the relationship or covenant of service, the wounded healer, our capacity to compassionately embrace suffering and ways to nourish oneself through the act of service. The program will include experiential exercises, mindfulness practice, skill-building and practical discussion in an exploration of service as a spiritual path.

The workshop is open to all but may of particular interest to caregivers or those actively engaged in various dimensions of service in their communities. Please join us for this new program.

There are currently no dates scheduled for this workshop.
